Abstract

Micromacinazione is a Swiss company operating in the market of active pharmaceutical ingredient treatment in the niece of micronization. This is a particular technique used by pharmaceutical companies to increase the solubility and the absorption of drugs by the human body. Micromacinazione currently offers both a micronization service and jet mills supply to customers who prefer not to outsource this production step. This research investigates the critical success factors characterizing the market of micronization of active pharmaceutical ingredients (APIs) in Europe. Critical success factors have been defined as the intersection between customers demand and competitors offer. The information needed for the analysis has been collected from interviews to market players, from a questionnaire submitted to key decision makers among several pharmaceutical companies and from secondary data present on the web or distributed at specialized events. The aim of this research is to identify the eventual gaps between Micromacinazione’s offer and critical success factors and to define a possible strategy for the medium-long period to let the company reach the desired market position.
